Product Description

Up for sale is an SPI serial controlled stepper motor driver and controller in one.  It is based on the powerful and intelligent L6472 DSPIN IC from ST Electronics.  The board comes with screw terminal connectors and header pins for connection to a microcontroller.  The pins will not be soldered to the board on shipment, unless requested.  The mounting holes in the board match up to those of a NEMA 17 stepper motor, for direct mounting and connection (more sizes will be available soon).  There is a hole in the center of the board for stepper actuators to pass through.  See my other auctions for stepper actuators and regular stepper motors.  I carry a few NEMA 17 motors that are compatible.  The motor in the second picture is NOT included.
The L6472 represents an improved interface over the L6470 in that current values may be set directly instead of dealing with the tricky ADCIN interface.

Note:  This board has not been tested at the full 45V 7.0A peak power.  
The chip has a thermal shutdown, so it will not be damaged, but may not work in high power applications without additional cooling provided.

The L6472, realized in analog mixed signal technology, is an advanced fully integrated solution suitable for driving two-phase bipolar stepper motors with microstepping. It integrates a dual low RDS(on) DMOS full bridge with all of the power switches equipped with an accurate onchip current sensing circuitry suitable for nondissipative current control and overcurrent protection. Thanks to a new current control, a 1/16 microstepping is achieved through an adaptive decay mode which outperforms traditional implementations. Code is available for .NET Micro compatible controllers - please inquire.  Arduino code is not yet fully developed, but a Google search will yield a plethora of code for the L6470, a related driver.  Slight changes will have to be made.
